Testing, testing….one, two, one two
Coffee is a natural product, so we are constantly playing with the roast profiles to see what’s possible, and to take different beans in different directions. It’s not just a case of turning green beans brown, it’s a careful process of teasing out the flavours and delivering a tasty, balanced and exciting brew in the cup.
We regularly run test batches in the roastery to try new coffees, different roast profiles of our single origins, and tweaked versions of our staple blends Shaka and Kahuna. Quite often, they’re coffees we might not have released yet (there’s always something in the pipeline) but our test batches change all the time, and they’re always limited in supply. We’re talking 20-30 250g bags max.
It’s a bit like a lucky dip, like a gamble you always win. Your bag of test batch might be a bright and floral single origin, or a rich and brooding blend. But they’re always delicious and hit the high benchmark for our quality control. These are the coffees we’re drinking at the roastery and gives you an insider's view on what we’re up to.
