Bali

This organic coffee from the Sapta Winangun Kerti cooperative is our first single origin for 2026 and perhaps one of the most unique examples of an Indonesian we’ve come across.

Bali is predominantly known for surfing and holistic misadventures, but there’s a few little spots doing great things with coffee growing. Indonesian coffees are well known for being heavy and earthy, tending to lean on the heavier, smokier side of things. But this one from Bali is different. The coffee still carries heft and depth, but we get a bright limey zestiness, notes of fresh papaya, and a sort of green tea flavour going on.

We’ve taken the roast quite light on this one, which has allowed it to retain a delicate edge, so you get a softer coffee, with less wallop. That said, we think dosing this up a bit higher gives you a much better cup. We are brewing this with a ratio of 7g per 100ml, alternatively, you could choose to grind it a bit finer than you normally would. Go have a play.

Drinking this one is like easing into a hot bath. Candles lit, Barry Manilow on the bluetooth speaker. Or Black Sabbath, depends what you’re into I guess.
