The Chemex is an absolute classic piece of equipment – and a stunning piece of Mid-Century design too. But it’s not all about looks, although, again, it’s a beaut. The Chemex is renowned for its brewing powers.

First up, the glass is not your standard glass. This thing was actually designed and invented in the 1940s by a chemist, so it’s no surprise that this is made from the same kind of glass you’ll find in a science lab - high quality borosilicate glass - so it can take the heat. But of equal importance, are the papers you use with a Chemex.

Chemex papers are double bonded and designed to give you a perfect extraction every time. They remove much more of the negative flavours and in general, brighten up your coffee. You get a super clean cup from a Chemex, and if we’re being totally honest, even a rough coffee can be smoothed out through one of these things.
