Timor Hatuhei

We’ve been working with the guys over at Karst for a few years now. These guys work boots on the ground in Timor Leste, as well as here in the UK, splitting their time between the two countries and offering the kind of transparency not often seen in coffee importation. It’s a unique setup, and one we are very happy to support, because as well as helping the farmers improve their crops year on year, they also keep on investing in the community. It’s an unsung coffee region, partly because the country was at war for so long, which has meant the agricultural setup over there kind of sidestepped a lot of nasty processes. As such, the coffee is all grown organically, and they are continually putting out coffees that are getting better and better, year on year. 

This one marks our third single origin of the year, and it’s probably the best crop we’ve had from Timor. It’s bright, with a red apple crispness to it, backed up with a good medium body, and a date-like caramelly baseline.
