How To Brew With The Kalita Wave
One of our favourite pour over devices, here's our brew guide on using the Kalita Wave...
THE PERFECT POUR OVER…
It’s closer than you think. It might be a simple way of brewing, but it needs to be done with a certain level of accuracy to be done well. We’ve put together this basic brew guide using the Kalita Wave, walking you through the important steps needed in order to get a distinctly delicious cup of coffee at the end. See it as a starting point, as you might find slightly different recipes work better with different coffees, or your personal preference.
The same process and recipe can also be used for other pour over methods, including the Hario v60, but we like the Kalita Wave for its refinement - a few tweaks to its design means that, in our opinion, you get a slightly more elevated cup.
THE KALITA WAVE
Designed in Japan, as a lot of good brewing equipment tends to be, the Kalita Wave has a few features that help improve the brew. From the channels created by the filter paper which help with even draw down when brewing, to the three holes in the base which mean it drips and disperses better. Take one for a spin and see what all the fuss is about - don’t forget the filter papers.
